USL Schedules Grant Writing Workshops
<p>Two LSTA Grant Writing Workshops have been scheduled to be held on Thursday, Dec. 13 and Thursday, Jan. 10 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Utah State Library. A third workshop has been scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the campus of Snow College, Richfield. </p> <p> </p>
State Library Awards Grant Dollars to Utah Library Projects
<p>The Utah State Library (USL) has awarded $265,764 in regular and mini Library Science and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to Utah school, academic, special and public libraries. The LSTA Advisory Council recently held their Annual Fall Meeting and Grant Review and recommended funding for five regular grants and 17 mini grant applications. <br /> </p>
State Library Board Appoints New LSTA Advisory Council Members
<p>The following people were recently appointed to serve on the LSTA Advisory Council: <br /> Rachel Wadham, Education Librarian, Brigham Young University, Large Academic Library representative <br /> Charlie Roberts, Technology &amp; Media Director, Washington County School District, District Level Representative <br /> Gretchen Freeman, Associate Director, Salt Lake County Library System, Large Public Library representative <br /> Edwin Espinel, Utah Department of Health, Minority/Disadvantaged Library User representative <br /> Jon Wallace, Rural area Library User representative </p> <p> <br /> </p>
LSTA Grant Categories Expanded for 2007-2008
<p>The Utah State Library Division is beginning a new Five-Year Plan for LSTA for 2008-2012. With this in mind, the LSTA Advisory Council recently evaluated the major LSTA grant categories: 1) Technology Infrastructure, 2) Networked Information, and 3) Enhanced Access to Library Resources. They also reviewed grant histories, types of projects funded during the last Five-Year Plan, and comments from librarians across the state collected as part of the formal evaluation of the previous five-year plan. <i>The consensus of the LSTA Advisory Council is that grant applications from first time applicants and grants for innovative projects are highly encouraged.</i> </p>
Important Changes in the LSTA Competitive Grant Program
<p>The State Library Board recently approved several changes in the funding levels and requirements for local matching funds for the LSTA grant program that is available to public, academic, special, and school libraries.&nbsp; </p>
Utah State Library Announces Spring Grant Awards
<p>The Utah State Library (USL) has announced the spring 2007 LSTA grant awards.&nbsp; A total of fourteen grant applications in the following categories have been approved for full funding. The total grant budget (available dollars) for this round was $375,000. The total amount of all grants awarded is $269,729. <br /> <br /> </p>

Spring 2007 LSTA Grant Round
<p>Librarians who plan to submit an application for LSTA funds are encouraged to note several changes in the process:&nbsp; All forms are now in Excel format. Intent to Apply forms, due Friday, Feb. 2, should be emailed ONLY to . All grant applications need to include a minimum of one outcome based evaluation measure. Matching funds for mini-grants are strongly recommended. Completed applications are due Friday, Feb. 23 before 5 p.m. </p> <p> </p>
Fall Round LSTA Grant Awards
<p>The Fall Round LSTA grant awards are now final and contracts are being prepared for all of the libraries and school library media centers that will receive funding for their projects. </p> <p> This round was an excellent time to submit a mini-grant request. Originally twenty-one applications requesting a total of $138,460 were received by the September 29 deadline. The original budget to fund such requests was $75,000 but the LSTA Advisory Council recommended to the Utah State Library Board that the budget be increased to $114,542. The additional funds were available because not all of the Regular Grant applications were funded and there were funds unused by previous grantees. A total of seventeen mini-grants are being fully funded. </p> <p> <br /> </p>
Cedar City Public Library Awarded Big Read Grant
